Description of Organization: Rehabilitation of injured and sick birds. Educational center for the public. At times a research center in conjunction with other agencies.

Description of Internship Duties: Tube feedings, fluid administration, medicating, bandaging, lab work and record keeping, care of birds in habitats, interpretive tours, and educational programs.

Dates of Internship: Every three (Jan., April, July, Oct.)or four months (Jan., May, Sept.)

Hours/Week: Five days per week and eight hours a day

Compensation: $80.00 tax free stipend and housing at the Center

Application Deadline: Either three or four months prior to the beginning of the internship. Applications are accepted earlier.

Open to: Prefer Juniors, Seniors, and Graduate students but will accept a mature Freshman or Sophomore.

Other Qualifications: Needs to be a self-starter with good decision and communication skills. The student must be willing to take part in all facets of a rehabilitation center--means getting dirty at times.

Other Information: Student may bring their own vehicle. The Center’s vehicles can be used for short distances. Do to the nature of the area, the intern can take advantage of biking, scuba diving, snorkeling, and fishing.
